From Past to Pixel: Employee Digitization Reflections Part 3

By FOREVER

Hello and welcome to this week's FOREVER Digitization Connection! A few months ago, we asked some of our FOREVER Digitization Facility Team Members to share their experience of getting their own personal memories digitized, and this week, we have more to share with you!

Jorge H. (Manager of Production) - "While rummaging through my parents' storage, I came across a collection of VHS-C tapes. I had no idea what was on them, so I decided to start the digitization process. The results were a wonderful surprise—I uncovered moments from my mom's life as she was growing up. Watching my mom and aunts in their early teens, vibrant and carefree, was such a fun experience. It sparked meaningful conversations and offered a glimpse into their lives in the early ’90s. This experience reminded me of the importance of not only preserving our memories but also making them accessible and enjoyable for ourselves and future generations."

Eric B. (Associate Manager of Technology) - "For years, my parents had a box of old tapes tucked away, so I decided to digitize them as a Christmas gift. The tapes had footage of my parents’ wedding, family vacations, school concerts, and countless other life events. Over 20 years of our family’s history had been locked away on those tapes—until now. Needless to say, my parents loved the gift. We spent Christmas Eve together as a family, reliving memories of past Christmas mornings."

Dexter S. (Operations Associate) - "My grandmother had a VHS tape lying around the house that she could no longer watch—after all, who has a VCR these days? She thought it might contain something from her past but wasn’t sure what was actually on it. Curious, I decided to have it digitized at FOREVER, just in time for the holidays, so we could all watch it together while the family was gathered.

Sure enough, it was an old film reel from my grandma’s childhood that had been transferred to VHS years ago. Watching her reaction as she reminisced, and seeing family members I had only heard stories about, was truly special. Since the tape was digitized, my grandma was also able to share it with her brothers and sisters who live out of state, which made it even more meaningful."
