Pixie Power Minute: Pop Out Cluster Background

Objective: Use shapes and shadows to create a pop out illusion for digital embellishment clusters.

Video Notes:

1. Optional: Fill your background with solid color.

   1. If you desire a solid color other than white, go to the Quick Access Toolbar> Fill> Solid color > Choose color> OK.

2. Add a Shape to the page.

   1. Go to the Content Panel> Shapes.
   2. Click the dropdown menu on your desired shape (a thick solid shape such as a circle, square, heart, or hexagon, is best.
   3. Set the Stroke to None.
   4. Fill the shape with the same solid color as the background.
   5. Click OK.

3. Add a custom shadow to the shape.

   1. With the shape selected, go to Format> Shadows> Custom.
   2. Set the angle of the shadow or select a heavy shadow.
   3. Adjust the depth until the shadow is on one side of the shape.
   4. Set the Expansion to 0.
   5. Adjust Softness and Depth as desired.

4. Add Embellishments and tuck between the background and the shape.

   1. Add a variety of embellishments, blendables, mask elements, etc to the page and arrange along side the custom shadow.
   2. Move the shape up the elements panel above all of the embellishments.

5. Add photos, journaling and your story.
